Composite Decking has several advantages to it's traditional wooden counterparts. The right composites can greatly increase the durability of your deck, provide you with ease of cleaning and maintenance as well as provide you with a variety of texture and color options. Some of the composites that we have had the most success with are Trex®, TimberTech® and Azek®.
Obviously this deck had several problems, structural problems were causing distress in regards to saftely and even being able to finance or insure the property, beside being an eyesore. Our customer (Albany, OR) had a good idea of the color arrangement that she wanted as well as the size of the space needed to accomplish her design for the entertaining areas.
This particular deck is a combination of Trex® decking and TimberTech® railing system. Replacing a deck doesn't typically require a permitting, but if the deck is over 30" high or the repair includes extending the top surface it will likely require a permit. Permits do not have to be an incumberance as most decks are fairly standard and Oregon provides detailed standards for compliance within the state.
In order to double the useable space we worked with the customer to incorporate an under deck drainage system to create a dry space for the area below the main deck.
